RESUMO

This work aims to understand the role of Palmas in the network of urban and regional integration through reading about its infrastructure and its symbolic production of urban space, the role ideological hub of activities, shopping and services in South East Eastern Amazon. Therefore, the research was directed to a historical study of the formation of socio region. Social and economic processes were taken as support for the analysis of training space. The frame and the network nodes were seen on a scale according to different historical periods of the brazilians economy. In this research was understood that the urban network and integration is a reflection, then, starting from the past, as the choice that capitalism makes of particular places and regions, gives the cities a position of hierarchy and a functional specialization. But, can also be understood as a condition. This way, is through it that allows the production and getting of surpluses in several different areas, the movement of value and consumption of goods. The duality of the regional economy helped in understanding of Palmas construction. A city with economical and politicize goals that broked the power of agrarian elites and, later, became the reference point of these elites. Palmas was a new network regional organization. Changed the city, drawing to itself, the development of thestate of Tocantins, and changing the logic direction of many cities. The role of a great city that Palmas was/is in the region, even without being, justifies large investments in infrastructure. This way, some points have been treated in this work which is divided into three chapters and has the city of Palmas as a purpose of study
