RESUMO

This work is a research on Death and its approach by contemporary Art, e.g. painting and, especially, cinema, analyzing their capability of transforming our perception of Death and the transmutation of pain. The reseach is first based upon concepts born from theories of death, which lead us towards studies on the Sublime as an aesthetic category and its contemporary visions, going through Art Theory and, inevitably, Bataille?s contribution on Erotism and Death. We will also use Theory of Cinema in order to spin the theoretical web that conceptually sustains the work . A NARRATIVE is simultaneously written, half fiction, half autobiography, in which the point of view is structurally sustained ex-theöria in the analytical systems being built. From this narrative, characters and script elements arise, those who will be incorporated into the final film. Approaches to the matter, Death, will be discussed via analyses of some contemporary films (descriptive critique), and by the film itself (a short video), in an excercise of criticism from within
