RESUMO

This dissertation is lhe result of a qualitative research, about the faith s dimension in the adult life of braziliam women, in a psychological approach. It was made intensive biographic interview with nine women between forty and sixty eight years old, stage named "adult midle age" or "second adult age". All of them are professionals, they stuadied in universities, with differences about religious identity, with or without children, married or not married. Faith was understood like the factor that gives coherence and sense to the life, the factor that gives the approaches to the ultimate concern. Faith is the mannerthat someone sees itself and the world. The James Fowler s and Erik Erikson s theories were the base to understand these nine histories
