RESUMO

Greek myths, which belong to the universe of classical or canonical texts, have been at brazilian children?s literature through several adaptations since the beginning of the 20th century. This work investigates the presence of Greek myths in the juvenile literature in Brazil through research in the catalogues of four publishing companies to school age readers, mostly in the period from 1990 to 2004. It seeks,also, to analyse the strategies used by publishers, authors and writers that adapt texts to keep a keen interest of the childish readers by Greek heroes and gods. Therefore, the principal focus was the analysis of two Odissea?s adaptations to children, published by different publishing companies, taking as theorical reference R. Chartier and M. Foucault
