RESUMO

This project intends to identify the urban micro-climate that exists on the Superquadra 108 Sul in Plano Piloto of Brasília. It has been studied, experimentally, three different spots with distinct vegetation in order to analyze the effects on the following variables: air temperature, humidity, direction and speed of wind, and superficial temperature of materials. The analysis was done along two significant periods for Brasilias climate, the draught season (may through september) and the rainy season (october through march), by monitoring each climatic parameter on the spots to be analyzed. Besides field information, computational simulations with ENVI-met, 3-D model for urban microclimate was performed in order to compare the data collected and simulations. The results showed the relevancy of green areas among other factor on the climate of cities, leading to a more pleasant climate which contributes significantly to the environmental comfort on urban areas. The comparative analysis between field data and simulations also improved and complemented the software mentioned, once it has been recently used on Brazilian urban areas. The results presented on this research are useful in the process of planning, so as to enhance urbans environment quality, in particular the thermal comfort on open spaces.
