RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to know how inlanders and/or their descendants taught and learned along the history of "Barra-garcense" society formation, which was constituted from a migration process, mainly of northerner and northeaster who moved to Central Region of Brazil, from 1920 to 1970, searching for better survival conditions. In this new space, unknown for the majority, it was necessary for them to organize themselves solidaritily to face the challenges met which were from the nature exploration to the construction of small huts, passing from the activities of grazing formation and clearings, to the guarantee of children upbringing and education. At first decades the formal education was a privilege of the residents who had better financial conditions, while the majority of people who had poor conditions, the access to knowledge happened in an informal way. In this case, the own knowledge of the inlanders was rethought by the oldest people and/or more experienced who were in charge of transmiting it to the new generations, who changed it, with the purpose of overcoming the adversities faced in the context. The access to a formal education was the dream of many inlanders who fought tirelessly to have a better life in the country. Nevertheless this is just happenning from the moment that region developed, moment that many parents started to incentivate their children to learn, mainly the process of reading, writing and the mathematical calculations. In this sense, know how the educational process of two generations, parents and children, happened, who lived in different time and space, is important to understand the expectations these families have in relation to the formal education process, as it is possible to see it as an alternative to the improvement of life conditions.
