RESUMO

Advances in Mobile Computing have provided users with access to services and information at any place and any time. Nowadays, it is possible for users to have high mobility and to access any databases (DBs), residing in fixed or mobile computers. However, databases residing in mobile computers, called mobile databases, need to be managed by tools that address characteristics such as mobility, distribution and heterogeneity which are imposed by this new computational environment. Mobile computing does not have any mechanisms to treat the problem of service interruption. When a new context originated by physical or logical mobility arises on the computational environment, the mobile devices do not possess the sensibility of this context change nor the ability to flexibly obtain the information about the new context. Therefore, this work presents architecture for developing tools to administrate mobile databases or databases located in fixed computers, called MDBA (Mobile Database Administrator). This architecture incorporates properties of the Ubiquitous Computing, coping with changes in the availability of wireless communication infrastructures or databases systems. Furthermore, this work presents the application of the proposed architecture through the development of a tool to remotely administrate DBs.
