RESUMO

The goals of this work were to evaluate the influence of the ethephon (0; 0,1; 1; 10; 100 and 1.000 mg L-1, spray) and of the aminoethoxyvinylglyicine (0, 1, 2 and 4 mg L-1; pulsing for 18 hours) on the senescence of Heliconia psittacorum x H. spathocircinata Golden Torch and of Heliconia bihai, as well as to study the effect of benzyladenine (0, 200, 300 and 400 mg L-1; spray or pulsing for 18 hours) and gibberellic acid (0; 0,25; 0,50 and 1,00 mM; pulsing for 18 hours) in keeping the quality and in the increase of the heliconia longevity Golden Torch in storage. The inflorescences from a commercial area located Petrolina-PE country were harvested with two open bracts and a closed one. In the laboratory, the applications of the treatments were accomplished according to seven experiments, and every other day, cuttings were done at 2 cm on base of the stem. Spray of ethephon in the dose of 1.000 mg L-1 hastened the senescence heliconia Golden Torch and of H. bihai, with reduction of the vase life in four days. AVG did not influence the postharvest longevity of the species studied, however at rate of 4 mg L-1 made possible the maintenance of the turgidity of the tissues and the retention of the color of bracts in the inflorescences of heliconia Golden Torch. The dose of 300 mg L-1 benzyladenine in pulsing and / or of spray made possible for the heliconia inflorescences Golden Torch higher turgidity for the maintenance fresh mass content during the storage. The gibberellic acid (0,25 mM) applied in pulsing for the heliconia inflorescences Golden Torch promoted the progress opening flower and the decrease in the sugars soluble totals content of the bracts. Then, the postharvest treatments, except for the ethephon, did not affect in the longevity in the two species studied, however the heliconia Golden Torch treated with 4 mg L-1 of AVG increased the quality of the inflorescences for ten days of storage.
