RESUMO

To investigate the electrophysiological thresholds obtained by bone and compared them with the psychoacoustic thresholds obtained in pure tone audiometry in adults with normal hearing and with different types and degrees of hearing loss. Methods: The sample consisted of 70 subjects, 35 men and 35 women (30 normal, 10 with conductive hearing loss, 10 with mild sensorineural hearing loss, 10 with moderate sensorineural hearing loss, sensorineural loss with 10 descending ramp) aged 18 to 55 years. We carried out the following: physical examination, audiologic complete, tympanometry and ABR by air and bone conduction. In the evaluation of ABR by bone type was used click stimuli with alternating polarity, presentation speed 27.7 clicks / s, model B-71 vibrator and dildo pressure of 300g, starting the test 50dBnNA. Variables: intensity, absolute latency of wave V, gender and ear. The data were statistically analyzed, considering a significance level of 0.05. Results: The electrophysiological thresholds by bone were consistent with thresholds. The thresholds of air and bone were similar in subjects with normal hearing and sensorineural hearing loss, but in subjects with conductive hearing loss was observed gap between these thresholds via air and bone. In all groups, we obtained excellent correlation between psychoacoustic thresholds and electrophysiological bone at frequencies of 2 KHz, 4 KHz and 3KHz. In normal subjects the latency of wave V threshold and 50dBnNA was higher in males, no significant difference between the ears. Conclusion: The threshold of ABR by bone was modified according to the type of hearing loss, presenting the normal conductive hearing loss and changes in sensorineural hearing loss. So, with this research and can say that it is a VO by ABR evaluation technique that can be used in clinical practice as a factor serving to define the type of hearing loss.
