RESUMO

The present thesis had as general objective to make an analysis of some motivacional variables that influence the learning of university students, consisting of two studies. Study I it had as specific objective to verify the occurrence of the variables: intrinsic goal orientation (MI), extrinsic goal orientation (ME), task value (VT), control of learning beliefs (CC), self-efficacy for learning and performance (AE) and test anxiety (AP) between students of three university courses, analyzing the occurrence of correlation between the motivacional scales that had evaluated these variable in beginners and students of the last year. Participated 185 beginners and students of the fourth year, being 62 of the Administration course, 55 of Physical Education and 68 of Computer Science. All the courses are given in the nocturnal period in one same private IES. For data collection it was used the questionnaire Academic Motivation and Attitudes, elaborated from the translation and adaptation of the instrument MSLQ. The results indicated the predominance of the variable VT that, however, presented reduction of the scores in the fourth year. In the analysis intra-scales, it was verified more significant correlations between the beginners than between the last-year-students; in the analysis between scales it was verified significant correlations only between the pairs MIxME and MExAE (sig.level=0,05). Study II had as objective to verify the occurrence of differences between groups of participants of the previous study. Of the original sample it was selected, at random, 20 questionnaires of the first year and 20 of the fourth year of each course. The analysis of the variance indicated significant differences between the students of the fourth year of Computer Science and the others in scale VT and between the students of the same course and of Physical Education in scale AE (sig.level=0,05). The general results are discussed on basis of social cognitives models of motivation and in sociocultural variables of the sample, having suggested the necessity of new studies on the searched motivacional variables and on the used instrument. Also strategies are indicated to optimize these variables.
