RESUMO

This dissertation brings a descriptive-comparative analysis of two translations into Brazilian Portuguese of the Spanish novel, by an unknown author, La vida de Lazarillo de Tormes y de sus fortunas y adversidades, first published in 1554. The study includes a micro and a macrostructural analysis of both translations as relates to the source text, based on the Descriptive Translation Studies, and on the Theories of Refraction and Translation as a Re-writing. The research has allowed the association of the terms traductor and lazarillo to two new metaphorical expressions of different meanings related to the translator: El traductor Lazarillo e El Lazarillo Traductor. For that matter, the literary work was contextualized and a historical-semantic study of the term lazarillo was carried out. The dissertation also contemplates discussions on the task of the translator and authorship of the literary text, establishing relationships between paternity, orphanhood and translation.
