RESUMO

Land management arises from the need of optimizing financial investments, of extending natural resources use and, mainly, of changing the disordered pattern of natural resources appropriation. In Brazil, mostly in the amazonic states, many different sectors have done a common effort towards the search and institutionalization of land management politics. This has been demonstrated by the development and implementation of the ecological and economic zoning program. Among the activities that support land management some stand out: soil loss vulnerability analysis, ecodinamics theory, environmental units fragility analysis, land suitability, land use and cover survey and comparative analysis of land use and land suitability. The present work was contextualized to this scenery to propose the land management of Muricizal River watershed, Tocantins State, scale 1:250.000, based on the integration of soil loss vulnerability and comparative analysis of land use to its land suitability map. To achieve this a data base was structured in GIS. To TM/Landsat 5 imagery ortorrectification techniques and stretch were applied, before proceeding visual analysis. The intermediate products were integrated to produce the Muricizal watersehd Land Management Synthesis Map. Tree classes are presented: Consolidated Farming Zone, Environmental Conservation Zone and Environmental Recuperation Zone.
