RESUMO

A series of univariate and multivariate geostatistical techniques were tested and applied to a set of seismic and well-log data obtained from an oil field offshore Brazil. The goal was to estimate petrophysical parameters of the reservoir using integrated seismic and well-log data, with the use of empirical relations between seismic data and petrophysical parameters. This part of the work tested and analysed the results of the following techniques: simple linear regression, kr iging, cokr iging and an empirical method. These techniques were applied to estimate porosity and porosity-thickness using seismic variables (ampli tude and acoustic impedance), treated as secondary variables. As an alternative to quantify the uncertainties on the volume of oil in place estimation, the Sequential Gaussian Simulation technique was applied on the previous estimates of porosity-thickness variable. In this case seismic and well log data were used in a different manner and the macrogeometry of the field was considered known. A second part of the work deals with a series of multivariate statistical techniques applied to well-log data of the same oil field. The goal was the generation of a probabilistic model of reservoir permeability, integrating welllog and core data. The validity of the presented method was investigated for the relatively complex lithology (carbonate rock) of the reservoir. Principal Components Analysis, Discriminant Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis were employed in this parto Finally, the stocastic simulation algorithim was applied to resistivity formation variable, obtained from well logs. The goal, in this case, was to ilustrate an alternative way to generate equiprobable. images of the oil saturation distribution in the reservoir avoiding the use of the saturations directly on scaling up procedures. Some images of the oil saturation distributions, generated by the Sequential Gaussian algorithim, are presented along two vertical sections of the reservoir
