Industria textil : inovações tecnologicas e impactos sobre as qualificações dos trabalhadores

RESUMO

The present dissertation analysizes the changes in the workers skills due to the incorporation of new technologies in four textile firms in São Paulo, Brazil. Even considering that the diffusion of new technologies in this industrial sector is rather low in Brazil, the introduction of new equipments and automation technologies in the operation sector produced a high degree of desemployment. For the technicians and maintainance workers the new working conditions did not considerably improve their previous qualification and only few new posts were created. The research indicates, otherwise, that the introduction of some technologies in direct production work did even accentuate the previous trends of desqualification. This situation reduced even more their participation in the work processo For the more qualified indirect workers new knowledge was more and more required. The options of this industrial sector seems to indicate a tendency for subcontracting specialized workers outside the firm or to utilize technical assistance from suppliers or equipment producers
