RESUMO

This study evaluated in vitro the resistance of roots to traction of different posts of glass-fiber used in two register to rehabilitation of weakened roots with or out reinforcement of composite resin. Thirty canines had their crowns sectioned and radicular canals endodontically treated. The roots were included in blocks of resin, having exception in 2mm cervical and was distributed randomly in 3 groups (n = 10): GI - roots restored with glass-fiber post Reforpost RX (control group); GII - weakened roots with drill #4 of kit White Post DC, reinforced with Luminex system, z100 resin composite and glass-fiber post Reforpost RX; GIII - weakened roots with drill #4 of kit White Post DC, reinforced with glass-fiber post system White Post DC. The posts were fixed with Panavia F cement and the coronary portions were built in composite resin. All samples were submitted to the Instron 4444 universal testing machine for traction with 1mm/min speed. Data were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis and Dunns test that showed statistical difference among the Group II (p>0.05), that showed the highest value of resistance to traction (0.1144 kN), and Group I (0.0470) and III (0.0536 kN) that didnt show statistical difference (p>0.05) between them. The analyze of types of failures showed constant failures in groups I and II and adhesive failure in group III. It was concluded that the register of reinforcement used in composite resin and glass-fiber post presented the most value of resistance traction.
