RESUMO

The wind/diesel hybrid power system of the Territory of Fernando de Noronha is composed by an wind turbine 225 kW, an wind turbine 75 kW and a Power Station with total capacity of 3 MW. It comprises the greatest operating wind/diesel hybrid power system in Latin America. Since it is being the pioneer and due to the repercussions of the implantation of this project, this thesis work emphasizes all the necessary stages to the specification and implantation of wind turbines in standalone systems. Insight in engineering as the civil infrastructure project, as well as electrical and structural engineering are handled with. Technical considerations in management, contract and operation are presented to subsidize futures projects in Brazil. The effects about the influence on the thermoelectrical system had been done to the wind turbine 225 kW witch operational data were analyzed. Some operational parameters of the turbine had been measured such as: energy output and energy consumption of the turbine 225 kW, disconnecting events of due to problems in the grid, etc. Preliminarily, during the range comprising January to July / 2000, savings of about 35.000 liters of diesel were achieved due to the wind turbines 225 kW and 75 kW, with great positive repercussions in economics and environmental terms. This thesis work describes the instrumentation used for accomplishment of the experimental measurements in Fernando de Noronha Island. The magnitude of tension and current in each of the three phases had been collected, simultaneously in the Power Station and in the common point of coupling with the wind turbine 225 kW. Results with diverse readinesses are presented
