RESUMO

The present experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of the different levels of soybean oil on endogenous losses, apparent and true ileal digestibility of amino acids in growing pigs diets. Four isoprotein diets were formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of growing pigs using soybean meal and corn and increased levels of soybean oil, (0.0; 1.5; 3.0; 4.5). Chromic oxide (0.25%) was added to serve as digestibility marker. Sixteen pigs in growing age, with an average weight of 48.0 Â 6.0 kg, fistulated with simple T-cannulas, were distributed in randomized block design. There was no significant effect of the supplement with oil levels (P>0.05) on the apparent ileal digestibility coefficients of glutamate, glycine, arginine, alanine, proline, tyrosine, histidine and lysine. A linear effect was observed (P<0.05) with oil levels to the true and apparent ileal digestibility coefficient of threonine and serine and a squared effect (P<0.05) on the true and apparent ileal digestibility coefficients of valine, phenylalanine, totality of essential amino acids and totality of non-essential amino acids. True ileal digestibility coefficients of arginine and tyrosine, also showed squared effect (P<0.05) to oil levels. The oil influenced the endogenous losses of the recovered amino acids in ileum, however, when the supplementation levels increased, the endogenous losses decreased. It was concluded that the best values of true and apparent ileal digestibility of essential and non-essential amino acids are obtained with the addition of 2.8 to 3.0% of oil to diets for growing pigs. The oil levels influenced the endogenous losses of amino acids, but there is a contrast among the results found in the literature, requiring more specific studies.
