RESUMO

This research is about social sciences and its partial vision about the Catholic Church s view towards the Braziliann Milítary Government during the period short afier the dictatorship was over 1973 to 1985. Six famous Brazilians intellectuals were analizes with extensive reading: José de Souza Martins, Paulo José Krischke, Ralph Della cava, João Francisco Régis de Morais, Roberto Romano and Thomas Bruneau. During this changing period and in a new social context, the Church had to act in manydifferent spaces to rebuild the democracy. In the 60 s and 70 s the social sciences readings were more envolved with the strong repression and with the social movements. Yet, in lhe 80 s, the social sciences saw the church wondering about its own placa as na institution; and at the same time had to be always presented in the relationship between the state and the society. Even though, it was oficially on the state side, the Church went trough a period where it was, maybe the only one civil institution that was able to do some opposition to the state. The research concludes that the authors do not reduce their analysis only in favor or against the institution, butemphazing the capacity of the Catholic Church of making the chariges in the political system, where they recognize in it, the irrelevant active way of the society transformation and its political and social recuperation. The authors, in the research were asked according to the cedes that organizes my own perception of the problems, and that are presented numbered in the different parts of the text
