RESUMO

Introduction: Arterial Hypertension (AH) it is a modificated risk factor in the genesis aterosclerosis disease, whose control can reduce cardiovascular risk in patients with HIV/AIDS. Objective: To estimate the prevalence of AH and to describe the patients characteristics with AH in patients with HIV/AIDS. Methods: Seccional study, nested a cohort, in 1000 patient with HIV/AIDS. It has been considered hypertension levels >140/90 mmHg, confirmed in a second visit, or use of anti-hypertensive medication. Results: Of the 1000 patients, 958 and 42 were studied were missing. 388 (40,50%) they were normotensives, 325 (33,92%) pre-hypertensives and 245 (25,57%) hypertensives. Of the 245 patients hypertensives, only 36 (14,8%) were controlled and 62 (54,39%) had the diagnosis of AH after the HIV diagnosis. Lipodysthrophy was present in 95 (38,9%), overweight in 95 (38,8%), obesity in 34 (13,9%). CT >200mg% happened in 43 (30,9%), LDL >130 mg% in 24 (22%), HDL <40 mg% in 75 (52,1%), TG >150 mg% in 84 (60%) and diabetes mellitus in 4 (2,9%), tabagism in 56 (23,1%). Viral load was indetectable or <10.000 copies in 54 (80,6%) and levels of lymphocytes CD4 were>350 cel/mm3 in 80 (63,5%). Use of ARV happened in 179 (82,5%), 89 (41,6%) in use of protease inhibitors (PI) and 95 (44,4%) without PI. 148 (87,1%) used antivirais for more than 12 months. Conclusion: The elevated frequency of no controlled hypertensives and infected cardiovascular risks us for HIV, impose need of preventive and therapeutic measures against AH in this group
