RESUMO

With this research, our study interest is gender perspective and in an exploratory way, how the global transformations that characterizes the present days has influenced or impacted the configurations of new life styles, love relationships and identity of the middle-class bachelors living in Salvador, Bahia. This study used a qualitative method to analyze the data built trough the combination of instruments of interviews, life stories and live observation from samples taken from twenty persons with age between 23 and 46 years old, of different sexual orientation, born in this capital and migrants. All of them living in middle class neighborhoods, with college degree, working in financed jobs; fifteen of them didnt have a partner and five had girl or boyfriends. The results showed a life style where the professional career is a priority, the personal/individual satisfaction is through seeking in a variety of social activities, with flexibility on the routine; they are connected by a variety of social networks where the friendship has an important value just as the family values. On their practice and experiences of love relationships, there are the stay, the dates and the relationships mediated by the internet, where there are elements from the present days as the short time, quick dismissal, the individualism, the autonomy, the gender equity, the breach with the traditional rules among marriages, at the same time there are traditional believes about these rules. The identities constructed among these questions tend to have more flexibility for independence and autonomy women and for the homosexuals, than to heterosexual men. The coexistence between the old stereotypes and the new constructions of gender is possible on the present days, where the diversity has its space.
