RESUMO
This master s thesis has as main objective the study of the composer Francisco Araujo s classical guitar work. The text is divided into three parts. The first part consists of a small biography that seeks to contextualize the composer in the Brazilian musical scene, based on factors such as origin, musical background, career path and composicional work. The second part aims to specify, with the aid of examples and comparisons, the main classical guitar sources by which the composer has been influenced, such as the Brazilian Northeast music, the choro, the seresta and the Brazilian modernism. The third part deals with the use of the idiomatism, which can be identified through the analysis of some of his compositions. This text is complemented with attached sample scores of the repertoire studied and a list of Francisco Araújo s music for solo classical guitar
