RESUMO

The present study aims at assessing the effectiveness of an Ergonomic Facilitator Training Program, offered to employees and outsourced workers from an energy company. This corporate educational program was originated from a previous ergonomic and diagnostic study summarized in 2004 and it is based on current socio-professional policies that aim at achieving the organizational work standards of the enterprise. Nineteen former students from a Facilitator Course participated in the study. This number represents, approximately, 27,9% from a total of 68 students who attended the course. The Facilitator Course evaluation data provided by the former students were used to support and improve SEH endorsement programs (security, environment and health), extracting from them recommendations for course enhancement, for the development of skills based on corporative education, and for the systematic humanization of work stations. Therefore, this study aims at reflecting about the insertion of a companys final decision-making process in the global economic scenario, the qualification of its workers, and the impact of an Ergonomic Facilitator training course. In order to comprehend the citizen-worker role in a better way, it is necessary to highlight current aspects of Brazilian social and economical situations. The social effects of the economic globalization, aggravated by the complexity of our work legislations induced companies (from the industrial sector) to strategically concentrate their end activities, choosing specialized workforces or transferring part of their productions to third parties. These measures were taken in order to cut costs, to manage their productions in a better way, and continue to be competitive. Enterprises from the energy sector, in specific, faced the challenges of balancing their expanded activities with necessary personnel adjustments, the introduction of new technologies in productive processes due to business growth, and the development of SEH projects. The search for excellence, indeed, requires knowledge management practices that will not only enhance intellectual capital of corporate organizations, but also preserve the workers environment, security and health. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the Ergonomic Facilitator Training Program, proposed in this project, aims to reorient personnel development in the field as well as offer support to the EWA (Ergonomic Work Analysis). It is expected that the results achieved in this experience will impact the target organization of this research, in order to promote studies concerning the correlation between the skills acquired by employees and the demands of working environment. These results may also serve to identify the elements necessary to recast or revitalize pedagogical actions and monitor programs of equivalent magnitude
