RESUMO

This study was targeted to evaluate the palate depth and dimensions of superior dental arch on mouth breathing patients. The sample used, was constituted of 91 individuals without orthodontic treatment divided in two groups, control group (nose breathing and normal occlusion) and experimental group (mouth breathing and bad occlusion). In order to obtain palate depth metrics, was used a special equipment developed to this study, with the purpose of creating a standard position of plaster models dimensioning error possibility. Other measures, superior arch length, superior inter-canine and inter-molars superior were obtained straight from plaster model with auxiliary of digital paquimetre. We were able to concluded that on the experimental group we found differences only to length measure of superior arch comparing control and experimental groups we observed male palate depth bigger then control group, length arch bigger on experimental group, inter-molars distance bigger on control group and we did not find differences; on inter-canines distance between groups; on female found, arch length bigger on experimental group and we did not find differences on palate depth, inter-canine distance and inter-molar distances among groups.
