RESUMO

By using the calorimetric titration tecnique, the following equilibria in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMA) solutions, at 298K, have been studied: Ln(sol) + X¨(sol) LnX (sol) Ln(sol) + X¨(sol) LnX2 (sol) where Ln = Y and lanthanide elements (except Pm), and X¨ = Cl. Also, when Ln = La and Nd and X¨ = Br e NO3. The stoichiometric equilibrium constants (K1 and K2) of the reactions above were determined, as well as the molar enthalpy changes (DH1 and DH2). K1 and K2 are of the order of 10, and DH1 and DH2 are endothermic, except in the case of gadolinium, which are exothermic. Based on our thermodynamic results, on literature data and on theoretical models, it was concluded that the complex species above correspond to the inner sphere (ionic pair contact). The anomaly found in the case of gadolinium is discussed.
