RESUMO
The object of this work was to solve some interesting problems in applied chemistry, one in the petrochemical area and anoyher in the area of pharmaceutical chemistry. In the petrochemical area we studied solutions of diethanolamine that is used currently in Fluid Catalyt Craking (FCC) plants for the elimination of acidic gases from fuel gas (FC) and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) streans.Carbon dioxide, hydrogen Sulfide and other acidic compounds are elimininated by this process. We identified and quantified the degradation products of the diethanolamine solutions wich present various operational problems. The principal degradation product was NN- (2 hydroxiethyl) formamide (FORMYDEA), which was identified in the diethanolamine solutions from four refineries.This is the first report of the presence of FORMYDEA in diethanolamine solutions from FCC plants. In pharmaceutical chemistry we are trying to synthesize the anti-tubecular substance pyrazinamide using Such national substrates as acrylic acid, ethyleneglycol propylene, acrylonitrile, maleic acid and fumaric acid. The results thus far obtained indicate the viability of this work.
