RESUMO

The goal for this work is to propose an automatically guided vehicle to be employed as an auxiliary tool in the early education process of motion-impaired children. An understanding of the relevant psychological/pedagogical issues has been developed through several interactions with skilled professionals who work with such children on a daily basis, coupled with an extensive bibliographical review. Electronics, mechanics, automation and control concepts - especially topics related to navigation, dynamics modeling and man-machine interfacing - have been carefully investigated in order to overcome the engineering challenges of the project. As a result, specifications for the vehicle s architecture are provided.
