RESUMO

The stability constants of the monoazide complexes of some transition metal ions in the series Mn(II) to Zn(II) have been determined by various authors. The present work is a sequel to this study, consisting of the following topics: 1- The stability constant of the CuN3 species was determined spectrophotometrically by the McConnell and Davidson method in ionic strength 1,0 and at 25°C. This procedure was necessary because the CuN3 species was employed as the auxiliay complex in the study of the MnN3 species under the above conditions of ionic strength and temperature. 2- The stability constant of the MnN3 species was determined spectrophotometrically, by a displacement method proposed by us, in ionic strength 1,0 at 25°C. This determination involves the utilization of the CuN3 as auxiliary complex. 3- The stability constant of the MnN3 species was redetermined by the same method and under the same conditions of ionic strength and temperature by using the CoN3 species as auxiliary complex. The objective of this determination was to eliminate some doubt with respect to the method proposed by us. 4- The stability constant of the MnN3 species was determined under the same conditions of ionic strength and temperature by the Yatsimirskii method with the objective of checking the validity of the method employed by us. 5- A study of propagation of errors involved in the method employed by us was performed. One of the objectives of this study was to obtain assurance with respect to the precision obtained in our study. On the other hand, this study made possible the evaluation of the standard deviation of the molar absortivities of the CuN3 and CoN3 species.
