RESUMO
The aim of this study was to EVALUATE the efficacy of bimaxilar fIask on the processing of acrylic resin, by analyzing Knoop hardness (H), roughness (R) and porosity (P) variables. Ninety samples were made, measuring 32,5 x 10,0 x 2,5 mmand distributed in four groups (GI, Gil, GIII e GIV). The samples of GI were polimerized in metallic conventional monomaxilar fIask in boiling water (73° C for 9 hours); Gil was polimerized in PVC conventional monomaxilar fIask for microwave oven (20 minutes to 10% of potency and more 5 minutes to 50% of potency), the GIII was polimerized in metallic Bimaxilar fIask in boiling water (73° C for 9 hours); the GIV was polimerized in Bimaxilar fIask made of PVC for microwave oven (20 minutes to 10% of potency and more 5 minutes of 50% of potency). After, the samples were submitted to H test using Shimadzu microdurometer with a load of 25 9 for 10 seconds, and to R test using Surfcorder SE 1700, and to P test, immerging the samples into Nankin ink (Acrilex®)for 12 hours and washing on running water for 10 seconds and, therefore, the amount of porous was counted in pre-determined areas. The results were: H: GI- 19,66 KHN; GII-19,43 KHN; GIII- 19,90 KHN e GIV - 20,07 KHN;for R: GI- 0,14 μm; Gil-0, 14 μ;m; GIII - 013 μm e GIV - 0,13 μm; and for P: GI- 8,06; Gil - 7,73; GIII - 8,2 e GIV - 7,53. For placement of the samples: monomaxilarfIask = 19,66 KHN; upper bimaxilar fIask = 19,90 KHN; lower bimaxilar fIask i= 19,92 KHN; for R: monomaxilar flask = 0,14 ?m; upper bimaxilar fIask = 0,14 ?m; e lower bimaxilar fIask = 0,12 μm, and P: monomaxilar flask = 8,06; upper bimaxilar flask = 7,73; lower bimaxilar flask = 7,53. The statistic analyses (ANOVA and Turkey s test) evaluating kind of flask, kind of processing and placement of the samples in the flask, showed that were no statistically significant differences (p>0.05) between kind of flask and kind of processing, except for the samples placement at the low part of bimaxilar flask which showed lower values for roughness compared to the other samples.
