RESUMO

Employees that are competent and commited with the organizational goals can be considered a source of sustainable competitive advantage. Then, it is important to line up the Human Resources Management practices to the organizational strategy. In particular, Behavioral Training Programs should focus the development of individual and collective competencies that are essential to accomplish the organization strategic goals. This research presents an analysis of the impacts of Behavioral Training Programs on the organizational effectiveness in accomplishing the strategic goals. It draws upon the theoretical perspectives of the Strategic Human Resources Management (SHRM), Training and Development (T&D), and Training Assessment. The empirical study focused on the commercial team of Rede Independência de Comunicação (RIC), and was based on documental analysis.Statistic methods of simple linear regression and univariated analysis (descriptive statistics) were used to analyse the data. The study findings suggest that most of the amount invested by RIC in Behavioral Training Programs to the commercial team had a positive and significant relation with the accomplishment of organization strategic goals. Considering that everything else remained invariable, changes in the amount invested in these programs influenced financial performance and customer relations. This result indicates the importance of assessing the results of Behavioral Training Programs in a quantitative basis.
