RESUMO

Between the days and the years: a reading of the chronicles of Rachel de Queiroz is a study in which chronicle is contemplated, its capacity of being a genre of the quotidian and the question of oldness in this quotidianity. In a more specific perspective, this is an approach of some chronicles by Rachel de Queiroz impregnated with circumstances of contemporaneity and, in this context, the presence of elderly people. This study aims at exploring all the conditions that make chronicle a genre totally incorporated into daily life, therefore, capable of catching the most prosaic events of the modernity. The choice of this theme lies in the lack of studies about this genre and also in the actions that reflect on the third age. More than a proposal of research, this is an investigation of the subsidies for the knowledge of the questions inherent in the problematization of the genre and, as well, the senility. In this study, we intend to demonstrate that, beyond the question of the genre, what defines literary art is also the capacity of creation, the social commitment and the form of expression in which it consolidates itself.
