RESUMO

Modeling is the process that makes reality simpler. Thus multitemporal statistics and remote sensing data were applied to this work, so that the land use and cover pattern changes in Taiaçupeba basin could be traced during the past 30 years. For a better checking of the remote sensing acquired information and its later comparison, it was necessary to use field data, as well the official statistics and earlier scientific works about the area, which was complemented and updated by this work.
