RESUMO

The allergic diseases specially food allergy (FA) is increasing in the westernized countries. The adverse reactions to foods (ARF) are the abnormal responses to a food and can be presented by any individuals; while FA is the abnormal response to a food with immune mechanism involved in susceptible individuals. The medical history continues to be one of the mainstays of diagnostic process, although the knowledge on molecular level about food proteins and the immune response. Several international surveys have been using questionnaires as an initial approach of diagnostics or in association to others procedures. There are no standardized questionnaires to evaluate ARF and FA available in Brazil. To construct a questionnaire and to test the reproducibility according to main steps of its process, which considers the main features of theme, to identify the suspect individuals and to be used in general population as an initial approach of ARF and FA. The designing process of questionnaire was developed on six stages: reviewing the relevant literature; theoretical basement; constructing a initial questionnaire; revision by an expert committee; pre-test of the reformulated version (exploratory pilot study); and test-retest reproducibility of the questionnaire. To assess the test-retest reproducibility of the questionnaire it was developed a descriptive, cross sectional study on Julyâ2005, which population was composed by 125 children from two to four years old who attend in public daycare centers in Recife, from low income conditions. The 125 parents or caregivers of children were interviewed (test of questionnaire), and 35 had been drafted to retest 48 hours after the initial interview. The descriptive statistical data was performed by Epi Info 6,04
