RESUMO

Croton sonderianus, popularly known as Marmeleiro preto, present description of various medicinal properties, as actions diuretic, digestive e antimicrobial. In popular medicine is reputed per os, for the stomach ache, uterine bleeding, and in the control of vomitions and diarrhea. The present study, the essential oil of Croton sonderianus (OECson) evaluated in experimentals models of gastric lesions induced by ethanol, indomethacin in mice and cold restraint stress in rats. Oral administration of OECson at doses of 1, 3, 10, 30 and 100 mg/kg, 60 min before ulcer inducer agent showed significant protection against gastric damage caused by ethanol. The doses more efficient in reduction of gastric lesions induced by ethanol were of 30 and 100 mg/kg, presenting in reduction of 62,48 and 81,44 %, respectively when compared to control. OECson at doses of 3, 10, 30 and 100 mg/kg also was capable of to reduce the lesions caused by aggressor agent indomethacin, showed at doses of 30 and 100 mg/kg, in reduction of 45,98 e 48,28 % respectively when compared to control group. In model of cold restraint stress, the OECson at dose of 100 mg/kg (p.o.), it failed to reduce, significantly in the lesions. However, omeprazole (10 mg/kg), powerful inhibitor of gastric secretion compared to control promoted inhibition statistically significant of 67, 14 % in the gastric lesions. The pretreatment with OECson at doses of 30 and 100 mg/kg (p.o.), failed to in secretion of gastric mucus and nonprotein sulfidryl content when compared to control group. In model of intestinal transit, OECson when administrated 30 min before of charcoal, suppressed significantly the percentage traveled by charcoal of intestinal transit, alone at dose of 30 mg/kg of 70,95 % for 42,21 %. At doses of 10, 100 and 300 mg/kg, OECson was not significantly altered the transit. When administrated 60 min before of charcoal, OECson suppressed significantly the transit at doses of 30 and 100 mg/kg in 53,16% and 53,71%, respectively. Were evaluated the mechanisms possible of the effects, the results suggests an μ-opioid receptors involvement in the anti-transit effect of the OECson, as for morphine. The delay in transit caused by OECson and morphine was significantly blocked by naloxone, a m-opioid receptors antagonist but not by yohimbine, an a2-adrenoceptor antagonist, suggesting an opioid mechanism and not an andrenergic one. OECson, increased significantly the emptying gastric, and due to effect, could be that for promote protection of the gastric mucosal through in the increase of the gastrointestinal motility, like this, the emptying gastric increased were reduce the amount of acid present at stomach were reduce the aggressor effect of the acid. Joint us experimentals results obtained on the present study, OECson present antiulcerogenic effect, confirmed the popular medicinal use us treatments of the gastrointestinal disturbances.
