Educação matemática crítica: contribuições para o debate teórico e seus reflexos nos trabalhos acadêmicos / Critical mathematics education: contributions to the theoretical debate and its impact on academic work

RESUMO

This dissertation, of bibliographic nature, was elaborated on the sphere of discussions proposed by the Critical Mathematics Education that, in general, has concerns with the development for democracy and citizenship in the Mathematics Education, from its social and political implications and the transformation of the teaching-learning process. In this study, in addition to dialogue with The Critical Mathematics Theory that is mainly represented by Ole Skovsmose, also has been related to the movement of Critical Pedagogy, to the Pedagogy of Paulo Freire and to the Etnomathematics. Finally, we performed a State of Art of Brazilians scholarly works in Critical Mathematics Education and other critical studies in Mathematics Education. The analysis is divided by two parts: a theoretical study that constitutes in a panorama from the reading of the abstract summaries; and a theorist study from the full reading of parts of the works. Besides the conclusions obtained by the panorama, we concluded that the works on Critical Mathematics Education, in its majority, have been promoted the debate of social issues related to Mathematics; have been discussed the important concepts as the Ideology of certainty from the mathematical knowledge and its power to format the society; and have been promoted space for investigation, dialogue and criticism in the studied enviroments
