RESUMO

The analysis of buildings, their design, and the habits of the users are one of the alternatives for better understanding the forms of inhabiting of a given society. Therefore, to establish a timeline perspective some historical data on apartment building development in Europe and Brasil were studied in parallel. In order to better understand how architecture al designs projects of vertical buildings apartments are conceived in Goiania and the role of each character in this play we have carried out a survey of projects of vertical buildings of apartments in the main vertical neighborhoods produced in this city in the year 2006, as well as a statistical survey on the opinions of agents involved in the real state market, users, entrepreners and architects. On the basis of the projects of these buildings we were able to define general characteristics of the apartments built for the private initiative in this period. We can conclude from this work that the decision making process related to real state market relies on architects much less than it should. The steps for changing this situation initiate with the improvement of the university education, taking this subject into account, as well as with the continued education
