RESUMO

The cerebrovascular disease (CVD) refers to a1lthe alterations in which a cerebral area is, transitory or definitively, affected by ischemia and/or bleeding, or in which one cerebral vessels are involved in a pathologic processo Seeking to trace a neuropsychological profile ofthe child after a cerebral vascular accident (CVA), 28 children were rated, being 14 ITom the experimental group (EG), and 14 ITom the controlling group (CG). The EG was consisting of 7 subjects ITomthe male sex and 7 ITomthe female sex, ITomages between 7 years and 1 month old and 14 years and 1 month old (an average of9 years and 10 months old) at the time rating. The CG was matched in sex and age tothe EG. The protocol of neuropsychological investigation consisted of anemnesis, instructor questionnaire, intelligencetest, vision-motor test, human figure drawing and neuropsychological task. The results analysis of this study showed that the best fulfillmentafter the CVA is related to lesser time of functional recovery; there was an upper fulfillmentof the CG over the EG in a1lthe instruments used, in cognitive, perceptive and motor areas. It was also testified tOOt the CVA leads to an intellectual lowering when a summary of vascular seizure repetition OOppens. Through the neuropsychological investigation, relations between cerebral systems,cognitive and behavior processes of the child after the CVA were set up
