RESUMO

In view of its great biological diversity and productivity, in addition to its many functions and values, the wetlands ecosystems are priority for conservation. The lack of information about biodiversity is the main limitation for their conservation. Moreover, the identification of the environmental factors responsible for the structure of biological communities in wetlands still remains as a major challenge to the ecology. This study aimed to: i) the lifting of the diversity of macroinvertebrates of a coastal lake in southern Brazil, and ii) examine the effects of environmental parameters of water (conductivity and concentrations of nitrate and orthophosphate) and the sediment (percentage of organic matter) in wealth, abundance and composition of macroinvertebrates over a year. A total of 1,346 individuals distributed on 30 taxa of macroinvertebrates as found in the Lagoa da Reserva over the period studied. The phylum Arthropoda represented 71percent of taxa sampled in the study. The most representative taxa were Chironomidae, Sinelobus stanfordi and Hydrobiidae. Of the taxa found, 14 were classified as collectors, four as predators, four as scrapers, three as shredders, two as a generalist and two as parasites. The richness and abundance of macroinvertebrates varied during the period studied, and were higher in the first (June 2005) and fifth collections (March 2006) compared to the other collections made during the studied period. The conductivity watereletric has positively influenced the richness and abundance of macroinvertebrates. The first three axes of the canonical of correspondence analysis explained 80.7 percent of the variation in the composition of macroinvertebrates over the studied period. The composition was influenced mainly by the eletric of water, concentration of nitrate and percentage of organic matter of the sediment. Our results highlighted the importance of chemical variables of water and sediment in the structure and dynamics of macroinvertebrates in a coastal lagoon of Rio Grande do Sul. Moreover, the study is a survey of the diversity of macroinvertebrates, concern themselves in describing aspects of wealth, abundance, composition and frequency of macroinvertebrates lake ecosystems in southern Brazil
