RESUMO

Recognized the importance of riparian forests and the current number of reforested areas of such ecosystems suggest practices of monitoring for the verification of progress this process. This study was conducted to set variables that can be adopted in assessment and monitoring post - planting in reforested riparian areas. This work is provided in chapters, with a general review of the subject addressed (Chapter 1), analysis and evaluation of reforested riparian areas (Chapter 2) and the selection of variables and indexing to assess the recovery of reforested riparian areas (Chapter 3). The study reforested riparian areas of different ages (1 to 15 years) was assessed at ReservatÃrio de Volta Grande and at Rio Grande tributaries, in counties of Ãgua Comprida (MG), MiguelÃpolis e Igarapava (SP). Were established transects (parcels) of 10 m in length and width (variable 13,5 to 98,6m), with the number of parcels variable, as the size of reforested area. The variables assessed in reforested riparian areas were: number of species and individuals planted, height, basal area, number of species and individuals regenerated, dry litter and chemical and textural attributes of soil. For the stratum wooded (individuals with CAP ≥ 15 cm) and regenerating (individuals with CAP <15cm and height >10cm) was done the assessment of structural and fitossociology. Were found 114 species in the reforested riparian areas with the most important families Leguminosae, Bignoniaceae, Anacardiaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Bombacaceae, Mimosaceae and Meliaceae. The reforested riparian areas showed structural progress with the age of planting. In the regenerating stratum was found 80 species, of which 62 (80,0%) were common to planted species evaluated in the areas. Was verified the occurrence of regeneration in reforested areas with age equal and larger than 4 years. The absence of remnants and the presence of invasive grass represent an obstacle to the establishment of this layer. The employment of discriminant function analysis select 6 variables (number of species assessed, basal area of individuals planted, number of species and number of individuals regenerating, dry litter, and the CTC of soil), with the correct classification of 97, 95% parcels which allows infer on the representativeness of selected attributes in the process of recovery of reforested riparian areas.
