RESUMO

A study about the development of polymeric material with controllable optic and mechanical properties using models of prediction of polymers properties for groups contribution, is presented in this work. The study it was carried out in multicompound polymeric systems using a mixture of styrene monomer and polyethyleneglycoldimethacrylates with the addition of the monomer derived from acrylics and methacrylates obtained from the ethylene glycol. These monomers can be polymerized by cross linked or network polymers. A restricted set of groups of contribution were initially used in order to ensure compatibility between impact resistance, thermal resistance, high refractive index and hardness. Those properties are important in lenses production. First the theoretical calculation of polymers was carried through with the use of properties prediction and later the calculation of these properties experimentally by photo cure with ultraviolet radiation. The material was characterized through the evaluation of the optic and mechanical properties, glass transition temperature, refractive index, impact resistance and superficial hardness determination. A method for final properties assessment for this type of system is presented keeping in mind the reactivity ratios of monomers. A comparison between theoretical and experimental data is also presented. Exists great compatibility between the results theoretical and the gotten ones experimentally, in ali the cases equal or superior. This study considers the kinetic of co-polymerisation by free radical of multifunctional monomer and its relation with the final properties of the obtained material. More over it was done a kinetic study for the choice of the photo-initiator to begin for the considered systems
