RESUMO

This dissertation is constructed as a comprehensive effort about the Gender experiences of children at playtime inside the child scholar education. And since it is a study based in a historical-cultural perspective, adults/teachers experiences also take part on the comprehension elaborated on this dissertation. The dialectic and historical Materialism, according to Lev S. Vygotski (1896-1934), constitutes the epistemological base on which this paper sustains itself. The theory in which human beings are building, at the same time, by themselves and to the world, from a complex of relationships that depends on the mediation between them in everything, is one of the most important contributions of this epistemological reference to the development of contemporary Psychology. As such, it drives the present dissertation process and it can be verified on the ceaseless attempts on establishing a dialog between the analytical concept of Gender and the interface Gender and child scholar education. This research took place in a private child school in Blumenau (SC). The subjects were 14 students (aged between 2 and 4 years old) and 2 teachers. The records were made in 22 meetings, with everyday observations followed by footages, in a total of 8 hours of recording as well as notes taken in a field diary. After this stage, a detailed description of the recordings was written, building a filming inventory that resulted in two (2) recorded episodes - The Name Choice Episode and The Make-up Episode - and one (1) observed episode - The Snack Episode - without camera support and described in the field diary. The methodological approach used to analyze the material was the Microethnographic Analysis. The experiences observed through the footages and then analyzed according to the Microethnographic Analysis shows that the children that participated in this research are exposed and understand the Gender characteristics that organize everyday life. Nevertheless, it was possible to percept that in playtime situations, kids find room and possibilities to experience Gender characteristics that not necessarily correspond to the limits set by culture and effectuated by adults. Children, at playtime, find room for social responsibility and hence can expand the limits imposed by the experiences in the adult world related to the Gender characteristics. However, this move is not integral, since the adult interference - in this particular case, the teachers - works as a restrictive feature over the children spontaneous experiences relating to the questions that involve Gender. Considering the Vygotski an definition that the action world defines the language, thoughts and emotional possibilities, it became clear in our study that the Gender characteristics in the present situation - children that attends to a child school - does not constitutes a result that can be comprehended as something intrinsic to the human being. They are, for sure, social constructions produced historically and, as such, need to be considered by psychologists, educators and parents.
