RESUMO

Soybean is the main oilseed planted worldwide and due to its large and diverse use it has a great importance in the economies of countries that produce it. Its production grew in Brazil after 1970 decade. The Mato Grosso State appears as the largest producer of soybeans in Brazil. Cultivated in large areas, unlike in the 1970s, when the resources of official rural credit were abundant, the soybean is today funded its biggest part by funds from trading, through mechanisms of early commercialization. While signing an anticipated marketing operation, transact it the risk and / or credit. The risk is the possibility of price fixing and /or exchange in the future market. The credit already embeds the risk of possible default. Besides these risks, there is an operational risk, reputation risk, legal risk and market risk. Understand how the trading address the risk of marketing operations for anticipated soybean commercialization is the main question that this study attempts to answer. By addressing the different concepts of risk that fall on contracts for anticipated commercialization, as well as, trading strategies used by trades to mitigate them. To achieve this result, it was developed and an exploratory study using the Delphi method to structure data collection, which were analyzed in light of the theories of New Institutional Economy and the Transaction Costs Economy. Also, it was sought to characterize the Agro industrial Soybeans System institutional environment, emphasizing the actors and the transactions that occur early in the soybeans marketing. In addition, it was tried to identify and analyze the contracts types for private financing and anticipated soybean commercialization. The study result shows that the institutional environment has induced changes in terms of that do not restrict only the northern state of Mato Grosso, but all contracts. It was observed that the contracts have been ineffective as instruments to manage market risks, which was the mainly objective for what contracts were emerged. Trading companies have given high weight to risks related to market, such as, reputation, market and legal issues, while a lower weight to risks related to credit.
