RESUMO

This study systemized the results of a research done at a Human Reproduction Clinic of hifh standard in São Paulo, with a group of 31 infertile women during treatment of assisted reproduction from the second trial onwards. The work evaluated the quality of coping with stress and the beliefs these women showed during treatment. To evaluate coping it was utilized the test Stress and Coping Perception - SCOPE-COPING, and to evaluate the beliefs it was utilized the Levenson Scale of Locus of Control - LOC. The Qusetionary of Treatment Avaliation - QUAT, brought in its answers, which were categorized troughout a thematic analysis, an enrichment of information about the emotional state of the patients during the treatment. From the 31 women that participated in the research, 27 declared that would keep going with the treatment until the achievement of pregnancy, against three that declared would stop for financial reasons and one that declared that was in the limit of her physical and emotional forces. The analysis of the results of this research permitted identify coping and favourable beliefs in the subjects to maintain the treatment until achieving success
