RESUMO

The behavior of the LINEAR INDUCTION MOTORS and the phenomena involved with this family of electrical machines are investigated in this Thesis. Equations which govern linear machines analysis and models are presented. The different ways used to compensate end effects are also discussed and appropriately considered in the development of a linear motor design technic which is the ultimate aim of this study. A prototype was designed with the developed tool and tests were performed using this machine now available in the laboratory. Simulation results obtained from linear machine equations showed good correlation with corresponding output measured in the real machine. The linear motor design digital program may be applied to obtain both electrical and mechanical machine parameters
