RESUMO

The process of uranium hexafluoride dessublimation is one of the most important steps in the cycle of the nuclear fuel, requiring at this stage the use of heat exchangers which must be built under strict design conception, due to the fact that the final product passes through the solid, liquid and gaseous states, taking also in account that rigorous security aspects must be included in the project. The present work describes the development of such heat exchangers, which ranges from the bench scale equipment to the design concepts for the industrial scale equipment. For the semi-industrial equipment a simulation program was developed and the predicted results permit to analyse the recovery behavior ot the solid product within the heat exchanger under various operational conditions of the processo After the bench scale equipment a pilot plant and a semi-industrial plant were designed and set-up in order to obtain data for the final design project of an industrial scale plant. During all phases of the experimental study various aspects of research on material selection and industrial security were carried out. Finally the present work reports all the studies, theoretical and experimental, required to design, to built, to set-up and to operate with eficiency and security an equipmentable to recover UF IND. 6 in a way that it may be intergratedwith all the other experiment of a nuclear fuel cycle pilot plant, which are commonly denominated Uranium Conversion Chemical Plant
