RESUMO

The orofacial cleft typical which include the crevices of lip and palate, (or) have prevalence in the general population around 1: 600-1000 newborns. Among its characteristics are the frequent presence of co-view and the need for treatment multiprofessional. In the neonatal period, difficulties for feeding newborn, which, if not well conducted, interfere in growth, development and corrective surgical procedures. Early intervention and guidance for health professionals, using different techniques and resources, can minimize the difficulties. Porpose investigate the knowledge on the subject of students of the last year of graduation. A total of 492 students studying medicine, Nursing, speech therapy and dentistry at the University of Campinas, 292 participated. Used auto-applicable questionnaire, validated beforehand, based on information from the physiology of normal oral motor apparatus and cardholder orofacial cleft , existing food resources and pointers to methods for food. This was delivered in hands and collapsed after answers. Then volunteered lecture addressing the contents of the study. Descriptive analysis was; for comparison between variables was adopted a significance level of 5% (p-value ≤___ 0.05). Generally speaking, there were no significant differences between the responses of different courses. In self-assessment, 58.6% of students report having reasonable notions on anatomical and 51%, reasonable notions about functional changes of the FOT. Despite knowledge of different techniques and associated problems, this is not systematic, which led to 96.2% of students do not consider themselves able to accompany individuals with FOT, within their area of expertise. Aiming at the improvement of primary health care, creating multiprofessional discipline could be an alternative to the improvement of education, as well as training professionals of family health Strategy.
