RESUMO

The MENDOZA (1991) s model is applied to the Brazilian economy, for the purpose to analyze the possible effects of productivity and real interest rates shocks in the real business cycles of a small open economy. Therefore, it was realized a historical and academic researches about calibration process and utilized a Matlab s code formulated by SCHMITT-GROHÉ e URIBE (2003). In this process, there was a modification of this code to improve the performance of MENDOZA (1991) s model. However, future improvements in the process of calibration and the development of a system of equations to calculate the dynamics of the random shocks are necessary to augment the power of Mendoza s model, referring to the Brazilian real business cycle.
