RESUMO

The present work describes the phytochemical investigation Kielmeyera cuspidata that belongs to the family Clusiaceae. This species was studied chemically for the first time. Many species of Clusiaceae family are known to possess mainly xanthones that exhibit some important bioactivities. The hexane and methanolic extract were obtained by percolation of the dried e powdered trunk wood and leaf of this species. The hexane and methanolic extracts were subjected to a chromatographic column on silica gel eluted whit mixtures of hexane and ethyl acetate in order of increasing polarity, furnishing the following compounds: six xanthones, two triterpenes and two steroid. These compounds were identified by comparison with literature data, and their spectroscopic properties.
