RESUMO

This dissertation was prepared in the line of research: Work, Education and Social Movements, aiming to examine the contributions of the political formation developed by the Center of Popular Education May 13th and the current use of its educational practices for the working class in Brazil. A bibliographical and documentary research, combined with semi-structured interviews of the subjects participating in three generations of the Center was the methodology used. Our theoretical framework is based on the Marxist matrix, in which we obtained the extension of fundamental concepts for the understanding of the synthesis of multiple determination of the concrete, such as: working, value, surplus value, ideology, exploitation, domination, wealth, infrastructure and superstructure. We, therefore, resorted to the authors Marx, Mészáros and Lukács in clarifying the ontology of the work and the contradictions of capitalist society, to Saviani and Loureiro in educational practices and to Toledo, Manfredi, Sousa and Tumolo in the issues surrounding the history of the Brazilian labor movement. The results show the need for emancipating educational practices of the work as well as the methodological reference of the Center of Popular Education May 13th as a current marxian milestone of the possibilities of the revolutionary praxis for the working class
