RESUMO

The research aims the observation and analyses of the appearance of the concept of causality within a speech therapist clinic. The first step was the investigation of the variety of senses that the term causality obtained from its philosophical origin and, also, the shifts operated upon the meaning of the term when adopted within other clinic fields, with different object and purposes, as per say, the medical clinic and the psychological clinic. The effective visit to the clinics herein made possible the comprehension of the following (1) each clinic field owns a structure to which the term causality has to adapt to gain proper meaning and (2) the meaning which the term causality gains, within each of the clinic fields, is the factor of influence upon the main object of the medical clinic or the psychological clinic. Also, the research intended to clarify if and how causality has been taken by Speech Therapy Science, highlighting the similarities and differences of use of the term among medical clinic and psychological clinic, aiming to perceive its effects among another field, which main focus is language itself. Finally, the research lectures that an ethic project shall force the adoption of a certain concept of the term causality that will operate upon language mechanism and individuals, reaching efficiency and permitting that the commitment with the patient speech be accomplished
