RESUMO

The Instituto Agronômico do Paraná – IAPAR is the official institution responsible for recommendation of citrus cultivars for the State of Paraná, Brazil. An Active Citrus Germplasm Bank - AGB Citrus was established in the IAPAR´s Experimental Station, in Londrina for evaluation of citrus accessions and recommendation of the best ones for the growers. The Station is located at 585 m above sea level, latitude 23o22’ S and longitude 51o10’ W, on a clayey Oxisoil and the climate of the region is a Cfa type. The aim of this study was to characterize the most productive accessions of the AGB Citrus. Three trees of the following accessions were studied: I-02 ‘Piralima’; I-03 ‘Barão’; I-08 ‘Baianinha’, I-11 ‘Natal’, I-16 ‘Hamlin’, I-17 ‘Seleta Vermelha’, I-60 ‘Natal’, I-67 ‘Baianinha IAC 59’, I-78 ‘Baianinha IAC 13’, I-98 ‘Baianinha IAC 89’, and I-108 ‘Bahia 101’. The trees were grafted on Rangpur lime (Citrus limonia Osbeck), and planted at 7.0 m x 7.0 m spacing, and maintained without irrigation. The accessions were evaluated in relation to plant production, from the 1983 to 1997 crop seasons and the data analyzed using descriptive statistical method and compared by Student´s t-test. Under the conditions of the experiment, the accessions I-16 ‘Hamlin’ and I-67 ‘Baianinha IAC 59’ produced the highest annual yields (218,10 and 187,05 kg per plant, respectively). The physical-chemical characteristics of the fruits such as: fruit mass (FM), total soluble solids (TSS), total titratable acidity (TTA), ratio (TSS/TTA), juice content (Juice) and technological index (TI) were evaluated from 1984 to 2000, this data were submitted to analysis of variance and the means compared by the Scott-Knott test. The characterization of fruits showed no statistical differences among the variables studied, except for I-02 ‘Piralima’s ratio that was higher, because this is an orange with low acidity. The lowest IT values were observed for I-16 ‘Hamlin’ and I-17 ‘Seleta Vermelha’, less than 2,0 kg.caixa-1 of TSS, whereas the other acessions attended the minimum acceptable fruit quality requirements.
